I hate knobs. I love switches.
I have a 3 hole control plate, and will add a jazzmaster style toggle switch route to the lower horn of my offset SX Ursa 4 body when I get to borrow a router from the brother-in-law (maybe, I'm green when it comes to routing, almost as green as with electronics)
I will be installing a momentary kill/stutter button switch in memory of MCA (and cuz stutters is fun) and I've been hoping to source one with a nice concave, tactile click and gaudy aesthetic to it a la old school arcade game buttons but whichever I can add without drilling a massive hole will probably win out.
The tone and pickup control options I want are:
-series/parallel switching
-neck 100%, bridge 100%, both 100% switching
-a switch option for the bridge dominant 'jazz growl' where the neck has been rolled off (y'all know what sound I'm talking about, something requiring a resistor of some sort will achieve this, I think)
-a plain old off/mute position somewhere (separate from the momentary killswitch, this option is not so important though I feel like it could be added to the pickup switching switch)
-as tone controls go I pretty much always play wide open, max treble, and get dub tones from my palms and fingers, EQ thru pedals and amp, so I think I can forgo tone control all together, but some of you fellas talk about interesting cap values for more grunt, growl, fluff, snarl, etc, so am I running out of holes and switch options for some kinda vari-tone/tonestyler rotary job?
One of these days I'll learn to write less scatterbrained posts, but i guess I'm just asking for you wise ones to get me headed the right direction with what sort of switches to source and what wiring options I really have here...or to tell me to stop being dumb and just wire straigh-to-jack.
