Just bought my first jazz bass

Alpine white MIM Jazz bass. Any advice as far as modifications go? This thing is pretty sick right out the gate but im just curious as to what guys have done to get the most out of it. Thanks!

If you like it the way it is, then don't mod it. But if you want, I would probably go for a new bridge and pickups. Can't really say which without knowing what kind of tone you want. But EMG's would probably be pretty good. With those 2 mods, I don't think you would need to change much (unless you want to change aesthetics like paint/pg). You could also get strap locks. Would probably be gig ready after that.

The MIM bridge is quite functional. You can spend money on a so-called "upgrade" but most people can't hear any tone improvement. I like the MIM Jazz pickups. Like the bridge, you can spend the money but don't expect any great improvement.

I've heard the badass bridge II can give the fender basses some extra growl. True?

Don't Mod your bass until you really know it. That should not only take a few months, but also should include a couple of setups and several string changes. Find out how it sounds and feels with diverse strings, and with radically different setups.

Then listen closely to other Jazzes that you play back to back with it at a music store with the same rig. Keep in mind that strings and setup will still be the major factor. BTW, if you haven't done so, learn how to set it up yourself. That's is an essential for DIY mods, IMHO. BTW, congrats on a cool bass!
