Don't Mod your bass until you really know it. That should not only take a few months, but also should include a couple of setups and several string changes. Find out how it sounds and feels with diverse strings, and with radically different setups.
Then listen closely to other Jazzes that you play back to back with it at a music store with the same rig. Keep in mind that strings and setup will still be the major factor. BTW, if you haven't done so, learn how to set it up yourself. That's is an essential for DIY mods, IMHO. BTW, congrats on a cool bass!
