Just bought some new effects, need advice

Thanks a megaton for all your thoughtful contributions to my wonderful "problem", I really appreciate it.

I checked out samples of the W&C TFR and I really liked the tone. I want to go out and try it, as I think I saw it in a bunch of local stores here in NYC. I think it's at the top of my list now.

Also give the W&C Pickle Pie B a shot if you're in a store that has one, it's also a Muff clone and sounds great, and comes with a blend knob as stock. All the other W&C muffs can be ordered from them with a blend knob mod though.

I suppose I will have to try out the Oxide in person, since I was unable to find something too enticing demonstrating its tone online. But will definitely seek it out.

Never owned this but every other Iron Ether pedal I've played (Xero, Franta, Polytope) is amazing.

DeltaPhoenix, those pedals look killer, would love to test drive them. After you pointed me in their direction, however,I am more interested in their P.O. Box. Have you ever tried it?

Love my Mountainking fuzzes. I own the same two as Delta and have GAS for some of the others. The P.O. Box is a passive OD though, not a fuzz. I'd steer you towards the Heavy Machine, Behndy has some great demos posted, unless you want something more heavy and brutal (Megalith) or thick and gated (Magnetar).

Also, I have seen this awkwardly named pedal, the B.ASSMASTER fuzz, it seems to have a nice fuzz tone to it from what I saw online. Anyone used it? If so, what are your thoughts?

Never owned it but I love the way it sounds.

Finally, any particular compression and EQ pedals worth adding to my arsenal? Unhumble opinions most welcome :D

Much love everybody, and pardon the endless querying...

EQ pedals aren't my thing, I have enough EQ on the amp and onboard. Compressors can be great though, I prefer them to be transparent and use them first in chain for clean sustain, a lot of players put them last in chain to tame other peaky effects. I'm on the waitlist for a FEA Labs Opti-Fet and have owned the Dual Band Comp-Limiter in the past. Highly recommended but there is a wait list for every compressor model they make currently.

Good luck and sell me the flips! :p

As long as time based effects come before volume based effects your pretty well free to experiment, it is like music, it is all theory not science.

This is how I know it and would run a signal chain, but whatever you do is your business and will provide different results.

COMPRESSORS > WAH > DIRT > MODULATION > TIME > VOLUME

Word thanks for the blow-by-blow reply man, will look into all of that good stuff for sure. what exactly do you mean by that last quip? lol :help:

Uh I was joking, I'm broke haha. But I meant to sell me whatever you don't want to keep. Also I suggest you get a compressor last, if at all, they're not for everyone. They're more on the sound tool side of the spectrum than sound effect, check out Bongo's awesome site for all things compressor if you haven't seen it already, Ovni Labs.

All the proceeds from the gear I sell will go straight to your secret Swiss account bro :P Too bad I'm a hoarder...

I got you man, thanks. I am using this gear primarily for recording, and I suppose I can just use the compressor in my DAW (Logic Pro) for the time being after the fact. Was just thinking what compressor and EQ pedals would be good for bass primarily to record and build a channel strip of sorts, to serve also as a cool chain to run other recorded loops etc. through for recording projects... I don't like going the purely digital, in-the-box route :D
