Just got a Bluesman Vintage bass today..

John Scott from Bluesman Vintage sent me this 57 replica bass to try out. All I can say is this thing plays and sounds better than any bass I've ever had.. a friend of mine has a 63 and he swears this one is equal if not better.. I don't know how John does it... here are some pics enjoy !!

Received my Bluesman Vintage Deville (P bass) a few weeks ago. John had originally built it for a professional touring bassist who formerly was a Fender endorsee. The customer decided to go with a different body color so I was able to swoop in and pick up the bass with a few personal twists at a very reasonable price! It's black, tort guard, 1.5" neck, dark rosewood board, reverse tuners, D. Allen P/J pickups, V/V/T, and some nice aging. Once it arrived I added a nice aged bridge cover that I had in the parts box. This thing sounds and plays fantastic (like any other stringed instrument that comes out of John's shop).

Slightly heavier according to my digital scales than I would have preferred at right at 10lbs., but honestly I was suprised at the reading; it "feels" much lighter than that on a strap and balances really well. Extremely resonant and full. I've owned several P/J style basses and quite frankly for me this one is the best in terms of sound and playability. Aesthetics aside, this bass beats out the Fender and US Lakland P/J basses I've owned in the past.

I know, no pictures no bass, but I don't have a working flash card reader! :embarrassed:

Just got my Bluesman Vintage 1961-Stack-Knob-Jazz back from HG Thor Labs.

Bass was de-fretted and epoxied.

All I can say is HG, is the best period.

Now this bass is at another level.
Truly amazing, my number one bass at the moment.

Hey SpirtField thank you for the mention John makes great basses he has been using my P, J and P/J sets for a couple years now in many of his builds. I really like working with him and builders like him that make quality products.
He will be at the Dallas show this weekend if any of you are near go see him you won't regret it.
Cheers,
David Allen

David- John has built me 2 basses using your pickups: a Jazz and the above mentioned P/J, and he also reworked a Fender Strat for me and used your pickups in that build. I am a believer in D.Allen pickups! They are absolutely fantastic!
