Double Bass Just got a Markbass

I just picked up my Markbass Mini-12 combo-- it's everything I expected, and more. It's light (29lbs.), loud and easy to use.
No need for my preamp, gain control tames the K&K piezo just fine.
Seems to have a cleaner sound when put on a chair. That's no surprise. Haven't hooked up an extension speaker, but it should shake the walls. Can't wait to get it on a gig.

I have had one since December and used on many gigs so far. Small clubs to large auditoriums. I used to use (and still have) an AI Focus with a wide variety of cabs. I think the MarkBass sounds better! I also think it gets louder and stays "warmer" or more natural as you push it as well. The DI is wonderful and I have had nothing but compliments from sound men. The only problem so far is that to get the DI input you have to tilt the amp to initially plug it in. Other than that, this thing has solved many of my problems thus far. I am even thinking of selling my Focus 2!
I also had a bag made for it so it slings over my shoulder on the way to the gig. Not quite as easy as the GK but still very portable and a "one trip wonder."
I am using it mostly with a Full Circle, sometimes with a Realist and gut strings.
I play jazz on upright mostly and found that I have not needed to use an extension speaker yet. It gets plenty loud for jazz gigs as is.
My $.02

Hi everybody! This is my first post/reply!

I bought a Mini 12 combo last spring. I love this little beauty. Excellent for upright and for electric (i do a lot of switch back & forth in one band).

I don't need a preamp for my upright--I use an Underwood or a Realist depending on the situation. With the Underwood, I put the EQ flat and rely the VLE & VPF filters. With the Realist, I boost the high ever so slightly.

At a jazz gig (small room) I put the amp on a chair. Someone told me it sounded like I was in the mains (I wasn't). Nice and punchy.

When needed, I combine it with an Aguilar 12 cab. This is a really powerful and small rig.
