Just ordered my first bass and super excited. Ordered from Sweetwater a Lakland 44-64 Custom(what used to be the Duck Dunn model). When it comes in I’ll post pics
Also signed up for the annual membership over at scottsbasslessons, so pretty excited about that too

First bass ever? As in never played a bass ever? If so what made you go in this direction?

Hope your choice of bass works out for you and that everything goes smooth with Sweetwater. Never heard anything but praise for Sweetwater.

And welcome to TB

Yes, first one. Always been drawn to the instrument but never pulled trigger. Love the P Bass sound and this bass seemed to be best fit for me

Lakland for a first bass? Nice. If you're going to do something do it right and jump in with both feet. Congrats, enjoy the lessons and welcome to TB.

now let's talk about that new amp you're going to need.
Grabbed the VOX BA50 for a practice amp that I could take anywhere and was thinking of grabbing the GK MB112 combo for home
Eventually would love a head/cab set up but watching $
Advice is welcome

Since we are already pushing you into amp territory, let us know what genre of music you will be playing-to, size of venues ( or bedrooms ), and whether or not long-term hearing is something of interest to you, then the pros here can point you in the right direction for an amp to compliment that awesome first-time bass purchase!

Great questions. I love funk/soul/R&B. I’m not sure where this takes me. I would love to play gigs one day of course. I’m an older beginner(49), and hearing is important, sure.
I bought a 50w amp the VOX BA50 and was looking at the GK MB112 as well
Any advice would be awesome
