Just ripped off GC like I was Bain Capital or something

I've gotten a few good deals on used gear at GC over the years - NEVER a good deal on new kit, never (I prefer used anyway) - but I've never seen them let something out the door without making their $$. Nothing wrong with that - this is the USA, after all.

I bought a brand new Fender Roscoe Beck IV for $750 w/case a number of years ago. It had been on the wall, untouched, for over 2 years and they were blowing it out on one of their Memorial Day sales. List at the time was $2400, regularly $1700, so my $750 was an absolute steal.

Well, 15-day hold is over, and now we're home. Here she is, and I think she's more of Mary Ann than a Ginger.

Some nice bookmatching; nothing too flashy!

Big ol' scratch here on the back is the main blemish.

Some nice pao ferro, though a bit dirty.

I really, really, really like how this bass sounds and plays. Had a Cirrus 5 a while back which I also quite liked, but the scale was a bit too long and bass didn't fit me quite right. This Millennium fits me perfectly, and it sounds superb. Really like the preamp as well.

Thanks to Celso at Wichita GC for hooking me up! :hyper:

Some truth to that, athough it's also true that whoever sold it failed, for whatever reason, to insist on getting its full value. It's not like GC bought it low but sold high, thus "ripping off" the seller; I suppose if anyone 'ripped' him or her off, it was me. Though had I seen this in the local CL for $200, I'd have called on it in a second. But for whatever reason, the seller chose not to list it there.

I'm not sure TB is the best place to sell gear. But I've been clearing out some used gear lately.

Everyone wants a deal. Which I guess is human nature.

Used gear tends to be hard to move. If a person is in a hurry it get's to be harder.

That's a bit different... and just this weekend I heard from a buddy here in SD that runs a repair shop that GC has, of all things, an "outlet store" down by the border where they sell blemished & factory second stuff. He's set up a few guitars bought there and said they were all just fine - but had old strings, a tiny scratch, etc. I think I'm gonna have to take a drive...

I don't know - I've sold some gear here and got a decent price; Folks on TB want what they want and will pay for it; Ebay is where I have wasted time/gotten hosed. Half the folks buying on ebay are resellers - bleh.

I once walked out of a GC with a Warwick Streamer brand new Pro M for $499, so I know the feeling. My wife was the one that spotted it too. Although she was my girlfriend at the time. That one act very much helped her become my wife.

I also owned that same exact bass. Awesome bass, can't even say for sure why I resold it. Congrats on what definitely seems like a steal.

Actually - No one got ripped off. GC prob made a mistake on the purchase and trust me, they made money too. You got a good, a real good solid deal, but I think I alittle humility would be nice... Bain Capitol.. Not even close...

I work (teach only, thank god) at GC here. The fools on the sales floor don't know ANYTHING about ANYTHING. I regularly see miss-labeled pedals, mispriced basses, etcetc. If I wanted any of it, i'd be excited
