Just Starting out, need advice

Bassically me and my freinds..have started a band. Just playing together every few days see how things go.

Thing is ive had my bass about 4 months and not really done much with it. Just covered a few easy songs.
I wanna be really comfortable with bass though. Eventually mastering the instrument. Bassically i want to seriously learn bass.
Im not quite sure where to start out though. Advice on how i can build up my skill would be very helpful. thanks

For me, nothing beats getting a CD of some songs you like and playing along with them. You can easily find the tabs on the internet if you need help.
