I really want a pink P. The masochist in me is tempted to bark up G&L's tree again but I think a trip down this bunny hole could be more rewarding.
Body and neck:
I bought an unfinished ash P body that weighs just shy of 4 pounds that MJT was selling on eBay as a package with a made-to-order finish. I contacted them to see if they'd sell me body unfinished. They agreed and sold it to me for a very good price.
I got a made-to-order quarter-sawn maple one-piece late-'50s style neck with a soft-V profile from Musikraft. I tweaked the profiling and contouring on that, rolled edges, leveled and dressed the fret, bone nut, etc.
I did the lacquer finishing on the neck and body; with a semi-transparent white blonde on the body; with some light aging all around.
Hardware:
Gotoh Res-O-Lite nickel tuners, Fender '58 bridge, misc nickel hardware, black anodized aluminum 10-hole pickguard, bridge, and pickup covers. I aged all the hardware to match the degree of aging on the body and neck.
Electronics:
SD Antiquity pickup, standard CTS 250K audio taper solid shaft pots, Switchcraft jack, .1mF cap.
The one on the left. 7 pounds 11 ounces.
The black one I made as well, is essentially the same story but with an alder body, slab rosewood on roasted qrt-sawn maple. 7 pounds 10 ounces.
