Just tried a Warwick Rockbass

Just got back from the music store and had my first experience with a Warwick. It was a passive 5 string Rockbass. Im pretty sure it was a newer one because it had the Warwick logos on the headstock and not the rockbass logo.

So I am not sure how Warwicks are supposed to be, but I didnt like the way it played. The pickups were INSANELY high for me. Everytime i would play i would hear a "clunk" from hitting the pick up. Is this a Warwick thing? or just a badly setup bass?

The sound was pretty good though. I had my heart set on a Musicman stingray 5 string, but now i might go check out the Corvettes and see how they compare.

I've had a few RockBasses. Sounds like that one needs a good setup. These RockBasses are actually pretty good. I'd put them a couple notches abouve other Entry Level Offerings, i.e. Squire, Epiphone, etc...They have Growl, and play nice once they are setup. But like the other 2nd Stringers, they lose value Pronto!

But for the price of a New RockBass, you could pickup a Decent Used Corvette, Streamer, Fortress, or FNA. Hit the TB Classifieds, and keep an eye on your local CraigsList, and Ebay. This is a Buyers Market! (Says the Maniac with 30+ basses!)

But Warwicks Rock. Even the RockBasses.
