I am seriously considering one because they sound good, and my wife could not complain about how big my bass is on vacations anymore!
It will make a nice travel bass. Well, a do everything bass no matter where you are. I am quite taken with them, and I own four. My fifth grade class gave me one of those exotic mahoganys for my Christmas present this year. They sound superb plugged in as well. I had a red SUBASS, and my 12 year-old daughter has now laid claim to it. At age 56 with arthritic fingers it is a God send when I am hurting to bad to take a full sized bass. I also own the 5 string American California solid body fretless, and an original passive spruce top fretless, and the mahogany one. I also recently picked up a Hadean uke bass from Rondo. They are quite good as well and less expensive. Hope you get one of those. They are ....cute (can one say that about a bass?). Tone meisters.

They silicone, but not sticky to me.The weird thing is that you cannot really bend them. They sort of roll when you try to bend them.
I use a kala California 5 string as my main gigging bass now and I love it. Arthritis made it necessary but it's fun to play too. I have the kala roundwounds on it now and they are great strings. They are fun basses, go for it!
I'll second the Rondo bass ukes, but they come with Aquila Thundergut strings, which are sticky, I've changed all of mine to Road Toad Pahoehoe like on the Kala (not the Rumblers). Aquila sent me a sample of their new formula Thundergut for evaluation, they are less sticky, but still not as smooth a the Pahoehoe.
Added: I also have the new Kala round wound nylon core u-bass strings on a couple of mine and they're good too.

I tried several, they're interesting in a Guild Asbory way but I never bought one. Instead I bought a 24" scale Samick Greg Bennett Corsair P bass. Fun bass that travels well and less money too. Mine is strung with roundwounds. And Protech makes a gigbag that's pretty much a custom fit.
Those round wounds and the B string sounds great! It could definitely be a main player.
It sounds like a full size bass and the right hand spacing is wide while the scale is short. I play mine most days. Fit and finish is excellent, mine still looks like new. A pro quality bass for peanuts.
the bubinga one i played recently was really impressive through a roland combo, sweet tone with a really playable setup

Got one of these to entice the grandkids into playing. Discovered it was a lot of fun to noodle around on myself.

I finally heard one live last month at a wedding. Had a very woody, organic sound. I'd say that it's a rather limited instrument, but for what it does, it does it pretty well.
Received a Hadean Uke bass for Christmas. Strings are a bit sticky, but great sounding little bass.

i have the kala rumbler ubass hanging on my wall - once you get used to the strings, it's a lot of fun.

i fell in love with the little corsair when i tried one out. the one i got to try was priced quite high, and the store i played it in doesn't take credit cards, unfortunately, so it didn't come home with me. as i recall, it's pretty heavy for its size, though.
