Excellent, enjoy it! I had that exact model. Put pahoehoes on it though, you'll be happier. Now we need to have a uke bass get together...I'm heading to your neighborhood right now as a matter of fact.

The kala deluxe gig bag fits that really well by the way and is very gig-worthy, mine is holding up really well and is very comfortable to carry.

And @Dr. Cheese , I'm glad you're enjoying it! Only a matter of time before you get the solid body bug...the u bass changed my life, I need another so I can string one with pahoehoes again.

Thanks @mrufino1. the existing strings seem ok, but do the pahoehoes make that much of a difference? Where's the best place I can get them? Also does Kala sell that gig bag separately? I bought a bag from Rondo for $19 but not padded at all. I can return it.

Yes, they sell the gig bag separately, I got mine from riff city guitar, it was in the $40 range I think. You can get the pahoehoes from riff city also I think, I got a set there at the same time. I have a few sets sitting at home if you wanted to try them to compare before you buy any. I thought the pahoehoes were a better match for that bass.

I used that model bass with pahoehoes, but had the lr baggs electronics in it, on this song :

I played my U-bass at church yesterday, along with my Peavey Forum V. I am happy to say that this bass is a keeper, and is genuinely practical. Don't let the tiny size fool you. It is a legitimate musical tool, not a gimmick. That does not everybody should have or want one, but it really adds something to my arsenal.

I'm still learning this U-bass. I did not realize it had a dual trussrod until a tech at another store checked it out. He said the neck needed a tweak, and now it plays perfectly in the first position. I never would have guessed I would enjoy this bass so much.

Last year I picked up a Kamona E3E U-Bass. I have not found anything written about them on TalkBass. So I thought I would add this post to just let others know it is out there. It has steel strings. It thumps when plugged in. And, sounds acceptable when alone played in a hotel room or sailboat . I found I just couldn't hang with rubber strings. With the steal strings I can use more advanced right hand techniques. I have been very happy with this bass. I traded off one of those little Samick basses to get this. Those tiny Samick basses sound awesome for what the are.
