Has anybody played one of these things besides me? Something like a Fishman preamp sure helps the piezo pickup, but it has convincing thump and works real well. Kind of bizarre to play with a 20 inch scale. The real telling thing is my mix people love it and the band likes it.

Kala Uke bass

I have had a UBass for a few weeks now and I absolutely love it. I have used it on a couple gigs without a preamp and it has performed great. Last Sunday I used my Tech 21 VTBass pedal with the UBass and it really rounded out the tone. I was planning to use the UBass on a couple slower numbers but it sounded so great in practice that I used it for the entire service. Two huge thumbs up from me!
For you guys that use it live: Are there any feedback problems re: to the hollow body? Do you stuff the body with foam? Inquiring minds....
The only time my UBass had issues was when I was about standing 6" from a cranked SVT-VR and Bergantino NV610 cab.
In all fairness to the U-Bass, SVT with 6-10 at war volume gets you into feedback based sustain world on solid body basses.
Sweet! Just need to wait a few weeks to clear the funds and it will be mine. I'm stoked; it seems Kala and Owen fixed everything that makes the Ashbory unplayable while retaining the sound!
