Kalium Strings Alive and Well

How's the inharmonicity of that low E? How far up can you use it?
I won't be able to string it up for a while yet, but I remember being quite impressed by the low E fretted all the way to the 12th and beyond. It's really nice getting true "mwah" on such low notes! The "bloom" is surreal an octave lower! :)

I heard back - they've been having tech problems, new website function broke a bunch of things - sounds like they're a "DIY" low-overhead operation when it comes to their tech - anyway glitches are fixed, should be a new gauge calculator on the site, and he says they're working hard to catch up again. Best I can say is hang in there...

Who is "they"? Is Kalium really more than just Skip?

I sent an email to Kalium asking about the status of my order.
They said that I had ordered the 39-40 scale strings and were waiting confirmation of the order from me and measurements.
Well,I had ordered the wrong scale, but I sent them all the needed scale measurements.
Fingers crossed it's smooth sailing from here...

My order was delivered today.
They are being installed.

IMG_2219.jpegDespite the fact that I accidentally ordered a set that was 39"-40",they went on with no issues.

I found that I can order up to 0.200 bass strings from Newtone. It's about 2 weeks to make them. 1 week to get through customs.

All strings are made to order, Down to scale length, bridge type, etc.

Cheaper than Kalium too.

I also found Octave 4 Plus makes custom gauge strings. But, he does strings in batches, so the wait time can be a bit much. But, you can get any gauge string you want. I have a 0.280 set for my 7 string bass. It hits at 15Hz. Can go lower too.

I use Newtone as well, mostly for hard-to-find acoustic sets (like for my 30" scale Emerald Bass Baritone 12). For electric, I prefer Kalium. That's just me. :)

i have a newtone 200 on my coliseum that needs setting up for the new strings and tuning but the strings themselves are really good
took about 3 maybe 4 but i think it was closer to 3 weeks from me paying to them arriving [im in the uk so no customs or long distance shipping] all in all a great experience
sad to hear the news that malcolm newton has passed away :-/
i will be buying more from newtone as and when i need them for sure!
