Kansas City Bassist

I wanted to see how many KC bassist we have here. I also would like to ask a few questions. I moved to KC about 4 years ago from Louisiana. I have been in a few bands that didn't go anywhere. Finally I am in a band that is showing a lot of promise. We are starting to book shows and we are going to be recording soon. Anyway I know in Louisiana in the part I was in(Lafayette) it was like a bug family as far as the music scene. I was just wondering how it is here.

I've been here (off and on) the better part of my life...although I was just based out of here in my young touring days. There have been some excellent folks come from here, but many move on to other locals IF they pursue music as a career. It can appear a flake scene at first glance, but there are friendly folks that have it, here - you just have to root them out. Some of us ol' dogs have often replaced music to chase the almighty $$$ to survive, but still play at jams around town and with groups that have relaxed schedules. I'd be happy to talk with you sometime and share what I can. PM me for cell numbers, and we can chat. KC can be a gold mine. You just need to turn the right stone over to collect the reward :D

I was born and raised in KC and have plenty of family there. I moved out west in 98 but I imagine at some point I'll end up back there. I have a few friends who I know play around the city but I have no clue how the scene is now. Good luck and maybe I'll bump into some of you guys next time me and my crew come out.

Hey guys, I wasn't sure where to post this, so I thought I would just bump this thread since it's Kansas City related. If there's a better place, please let me know and I'll move it.

I started a musical project/experiment where a group of KC area musicians get together to write and record a song in one day. We've had two of these so far with pretty good success. The 3rd one is tomorrow. Each session is a different mix of musicians.

I'm always looking for musicians and we definitely need more bassists in the mix.
