Apparently he has musical talent. I have not heard any positive examples of this but I haven't tried very hard either. If anyone can point me in that direction I would appreciate it. Let's try not to make this a KW bashing thread. Thanks.

I heard this song in a club last year for the first time and though it was cool. I asked "Who is this?" and was given incredulous looks for not knowing it was Kanye West. I downloaded the album the next day, but this was the only song I liked on the whole thing. I've since watched live clips of this song and it sounded awful. He doesn't deliver the goods live.

From his first album, when he had some humility:

Another from his first album:

One lyric in this song shows how his morals have changed from then to now. Here's the lyric:

"So here ya go, my single dog, radio needs this
They say you can rap about anything except for Jesus
That means guns, sex, lies, video tapes
But if I talk about God my record won't get played Huh?"

College Dropout and Late Registration are amazing albums. If you do not like rap or hip-hop then you will not enjoy them but those two albums deliver. Kayne uses nothing but classic soul to build his beats on for these first two records.

He went downhill pretty hard from there in my books. He started sampling newer music and getting a lot more club-y.

I was going to start a thread just like this one; thanks for posting, jallenbass! And thanks to those who have posted links to Kanye's stuff in this thread.

A lot of people were high on him early on, but I never checked out his stuff. I figured it must have been at least decent. I like what I'm hearing in this thread.

i am in no way endorsing his lyrics but he has some great feeling bass lines, and some really phat sounding bass synth.

Songs like:

"hell of a life" and "blame game" are amazing bass grooves, simple but oh so good.

Again i wish there was an instrumental version of "my dark twisted fantasy" album. great music.
