Kanye

She makes me feel kinda funny, in all the right places.
I swear her legs get longer every time I see her.

Yucky

I can't imagine having a gay fish as our president.

The events of this year have opened the gates for every wealthy egocentric idiot to run for something. Too bad it's not for the hills.

Yeah I don't even know any teens or tweens who watch MTV anymore. Just garbage. Pure garbage. And I don't mean that in the same way my parents thought Motley Crue was garbage. I actually like some of the stuff kids are into today. But MTV has set a new low for the bar.

Kanye West for president? The sad truth of the matter is that he will make it pretty far in the process if he is serious. That's how dumb voters have become.

But, unlike others here, that is about as close to a political statement as I will get.

MTV is all about the shock factor any more IMHO.

The final set was Miley with a procession of transexuals singing how she doesn't give a fcuk & likes to smoke pot.

There were several inferences to drug abuse during the show. I didn't think it was funny at all.

Yeah - I was really bothered by it. I'm hardly a prude, and I have no desire to "shelter" my kids from the real world, but it was just awful. My near 16 YO daughter wanted to watch it as 21 Pilots were playing at some point, and it was really disturbing to watching it with her. More troublesome was that my 12.5 YO son was with us as well. We only watched the first hour - the rest is on the DVR as 21P didn't play by the time we sent them to bed.

But what the hell?

Look, I know my kids have good heads on their shoulders, better than I did at that age, but still. The endless drumbeat of drug use and hyper sexuality can be hard to beat back.

And it strikes me that MTV has really gone down the rap, hip hop, whatever road, with only a few exceptions. My daughter told me best rock and best pop vids were awarded before the show aired. I guess to make more time for sex and drug jokes, time to show Miley having a sleepover with a couple of rapper dudes, and they all light up when dad Billy Ray turns out the lights. What the hell was he thinking agreeing to do that bit?

I dunno......trying to not sound like an out of touch old man here, but sheesh!

Honestly, if you guys hate him so much, just ignore him. Kanye thrives on negative attention, and he loves rustling people's jimmies more than almost anything else in the world. A bunch of dudes ranting on the internet about how "terrible" he is won't do diddly-squat.

I was wondering if this was just a generational thing to which I'm more sensitive now that I'm over 50.

I used to laugh about the old folks bitching at us when I was younger (in my 40s). Now I feel like the country is over-run by this crap that permeates all facets of society.

Seems like there are a lot more idiots loose in the world now. More of them than us.

Maybe I'm just old and cranky. Time to go hold a bass.

I turned 50 this past June, and yeah, I was wondering if it was "an age thing", but you know, I thought the sort of thing I saw on the show last night was crap when I was in my 30s and 40s too.

There is a way to be edgy and not simply crass. MTV apparently doesn't know that, or doesn't care.

I think a variation on the following is what I am aiming at:

"It's a fine line between clever and stupid."
