Kaoss Pad on Bass?

They ARE cool, but I don't understand the obsession with using a multi-effect whose main feature is a touchscreen as an effect for bass. With midi controls, maybe, but at that point I could buy any number of effects...

Cuase it's cool! When I watch Matt from Muse play live, I like looking at the colors from his kaoss pads on his guitars, especially in the dark!

Honestly, its more of an expression filter. I use mine with a pitch shifter to create synth esque chords. I suppose its how one sees fit it use. :)

Yeah see that's what I thought. If it works for ya, do it. I have a VERY similar programmable touch controller on my Minimoog Voyager. It's great as an expanded ribbon controller on a synth. But there are so many other effects out there.

See, I know for a fact that you can get a more cmpact, practical and significantly more affordable expression filter than that. One that SOUNDS better too.

but to each his own. Korg has some pretty cool synth gear

Fair enough, I didn't think so myself. I will concede that there are some impedance matching issues with the Kaoss Pad, but I think it sounds pretty darn good. My humble opinion of course. :)

I wish I could get into a massive Moog system but I'm a bassist/guitarist first, so I suppose for the price, the KP fits my needs perfectly :)

Hey B.C. If you ever get that set up man, can you post some samples of what you can do with a kaoss pad and a bass? That'd be cool!

Well if it helps your GAS abit. Check out ishibashi

It a japanese site that makes buying **** in Australia way cheaper.
They have KP3's for 33600 yen which is about 320 AUS instead of the ridiculous 700 AUS RRP they have here. Also they have the mini Kaoss pad for about 130AUS.

I bought my DD-20 from this site for 300AUS less than the Aussie RRP. Shipping was pretty cheap too.
Hey Man!
I spent 4 years living over in Japan, so if you need any translation give me a buzz. Umm, i reckon soundhouse.co.jp is cheaper yet again, ishibashi is down town, and kinda pricey :(

:P

Cheers,
Alex
