I'm building a small Bass pedalboard around my Keeley Compressor Pro. I was thinking simple with a tuner, keeley, and bass eq/di on a small Pedaltrain Metro board, and run it thru the front end of my GK Legacy 212 Combo. Using with active EBMM HH5 & passive Yamaha MIJ BBP-35 P/J. I'm wondering what other pedals players use in addition to it? If you have one on your board, can you share what other pedals you have along with it, and possible share a photo, or any suggestions to give me some ideas. Thank you so much for your time! I have this pedal. I don't use it anymore as I've moved to a multi effect unit. I thought it was a fantastic compressor. The effects chain was: Boost > VT Bass > Compressor Pro > Delay > Reverb > Q/Strip.
I don't have that specific pedal, but do own some similar compressors. The only effect I use with compression is distortion, but that doesn't apply to you, so I'll simply say that your proposed signal path is the one I'd choose: specifically, running compressor before EQ. The problem with EQ-before-comp is that tone changes may affect the performance of the compressor, resulting in a double balancing act.
