Keeping my new bass clean

Hello,

I got a beautiful bass not too long ago, and I want to make it a thing to take good care of it as I play it more often. The bass has a smooth satin finish all around the neck and body. My old p bass has a satin neck as well, but it has definitely lost a lot of its smoothness and has gotten a bit sticky and scratched up over time. I never made any effort to clean it or at least wipe down the neck every now and then so I guess I had it coming.

Currently, I'm wiping down the bass' neck, body, and strings gently after every playing session with a dry, cotton t-shirt. Will this be good? I don't feel comfortable doing any more than that because I don't want to unintentionally wear down the finish and make it all glossy/sticky. Of course, please feel free to correct me because I don't know much about finishes and its properties.

Thanks!
