While his demise was tragic, Keith Ferguson has been a huge influence on many bass players, myself included. My very first listen to "Wait on Time" changed my musical life forever after.

His groove, greasy tone, taste, and style were like no other. His dedication to the the early slabs not only taught me about the history of the first Fender basses, it also created a template I would follow the rest of my musical journey. Can't tell you how many have commented to me something like "that's a bass Keith Ferguson would've played."

One cool cat.

The biggest influence on my playing by far. Loved his playing for years before I finally saw him live with Don Leady in the Tailgators at Fitzgerald's in Berwyn. Beautiful, Monumental! They took a break, I spied him at the bar with 5 whiskeys lined up in front of him. I summoned all my courage, slid in next to him, stuck my hand out and said something like "thanks for your beautiful playing, your the biggest influence on mine". He looked at me like I was something stuck to the bottom of his shoe, slammed his whiskeys and headed back leaving me with my hand hanging in the air. Must've run through his H by the time they hit Chicago. Still one of the best players I've ever heard though.
