For the US, yes, but he said from Argentina to Canada so there must be some incentive for this shop handling all the shipping and export for his operation.

Gentlemen, my Mirecourt French Double Bass is appraised at $10 K. So which would I rather own and play. The answer is a no brainer for me.

Not that it's for sale mind you. IMHO things have gotten way out of hand. Just my take of course.

Ken Smith is still cheaper than Alembic and a lot of Foderas. Inflation is a buzzkill.

You know exactly what you are getting with a Smith, his basses are remarkably consistent. It's either your thing or it isn't.

I had it my head that I really wanted a new one (which isn't getting any cheaper) but I ended up with two used ones. Which also aren't getting any cheaper.

That said, I'd still love one of these new ones haha

Ken Smith is still cheaper than Alembic and a lot of Foderas. Inflation is a buzzkill.

Used might be a great option to get a boutique. I paid less than 1/2 price recently for what it cost to have my Fodera built today.
If you don't like it, you can sell it. But new bass smell is addictive.

Personally, I like the aromatic aroma of a fine vintage bass. Just my take of course. Granted it's not an Fodera or a Ken Smith, but like the Sadowsky Metro Espresso (couldn't resist the pun forgive me) they have there merits.

First run USA Lakland's are over thirty now, so I guess they are junior vintage.

It's weird to remember that it was 2001 when I got my first one so in my case 25 years. The really " junior vintage" ones have the 1/4 jack on the front and were 34" Scale 5 Strings (those are rare as hen's teeth)

I think you are thinking about Metrolines, Metro Express are borderline budget basses.

Right now, I have a Metro Express. I will add a a Metroline to my lineup later this year. They run about $1,365 and mine has a VTC added, so it is about a $1,500 bass.
