Ken Smith Strings

Hey there.
I just tried a set of Ken Smith strings for the FIRST time ! I put them on my Alembic and I really like them a lot. They look fantastic with the purple silk, but they sound even better. They feel soft, and I like the tone. I know a lot of strings are made by the same companies, so I wonder how much is in our heads, and how much is fact, but I like them so far.

Which specific model are they?

By the way, Ken Smith strings are made by GHS, but to Ken Smith's specs.

These are Rock Masters Medium 45-105.

I used the Metal Masters exclusively for a year or two and they were just fantastic. If I didn't have to get custom sets made I'd still be using them.

I'm still not sure? I come from the Rotosound Swing Bass, DR Hi Beam camp so I really like the clang and twang of a bright stainless steel string set? I like how they feel. I would swear I was playing a nicklewound? They are very polished and shiny for a stainless steel string and the purple silk is very cool looking I have to say. They seem to be holding up well. They feel tighter to me than Rotosounds and certainly more than than the Hi Beams. I'll certainly keep them on for a while. Nothing offensive with them at all!

I have been using the Rock Master Light stainless 40-100 for decades. They sounds great and are really tough to break (prior to using them I used EB Extra Slinkies and broke A's all the time). One set will last me a few rehearsals and a live show, which is good for me... I used to sweat all over those things.

All of my non-flatwound strung basses have the Smith strings... I think I have about a dozen extra sets in my closet. I keep finding them because I would always buy a few sets when they went on sale and squirrel them away, even after I stopped playing regularly. Haha.
