Kenny Loggins - Danger Zone

I keep trying to play this thing all over the neck and i've even gone to look up tabs, but they're all pretty much the same. I'm convinced the reason I can't get it to sound right is because of bass/amp settings...or maybe an effects pedal or tuning? I dunno I'm pretty lost on it now.

I'm looking for more tone help. I only have a 4-string in standard tuning, but I just plan on playing a half step up or an octave higher to counteract all that.

I just can't manage to get that nice bassy sound on the intro and the more treble-like part on the verse. Tabs wouldn't be bad either even if they are a 5/6-string tab, it could always be I'm playing it wrong.
