Just gigged my Mesa 400+ through my two Eden 210s (xlt/xst) for the first time. Can't believe I never tried it before! So much punch and definition--so much more low end. I think my venerable old Marshall 215 is going to be taking a long break....

Not a surprise. Most 15's are shy in the upper mids and highs. The right combination of highs and mids can make any lows sound louder.

Well, they do tend to as a generality. But part of the reason we hear it that way is also because they have less top end. The ear hears contrasts like that.

You'd think that, but my peavey 2x15 has the best high end ive ever heard!

Those older Peavey speakers (BW and Scorpion types) seemed to have a nice high end to my ear as well, defined without being brittle.

I'm not saying 15" cabs are bad, but I've always felt that multiple 10" or 12" speakers provide the neccesary boom and warmth with much more definition and mids to cut through better in the mix.
