Went to the big local outdoor niteclub last night to see a cover band with the wife and friends. Watch band set up. Big ass house PA. DJ starts first, and I know it's gonna be a long night. The kick feels like a punch in the chest 
Bass player has big rig - SWR Mo', 2 Goliath III's. Band starts playing. No matter where I stand, I can't hear the bass. I can tell by watching hand the guy is good. Band takes a break. I go behind stage and meet bass player, congrat him on playing and then give him the bad news. He looks a me with a pained expression and confirms what I suspected. House soundman. 
I commiserate.
The problem is that my band will probably be playing there in a few months.
