Killswitches???

Just look for any electrical switch, there are loads of sites out there. SPST is what you want. Be it as a toggle or button.
You would just wire it between the hot out and the jack socket.

If it was BH that inspired you, then you definitely want a tappable (momentary) switch, the ones I posted in the other thread are what you want.

would this work if attached to th hot battery lead? bass would be dead, but it would prevent battery drain. simple off/on switch? possibly mounted on the battery compartment?
Possibly, but it may create noise as you are switching on and off a "major" power source.

Why on earth ? There are mute switches a plenty for use with your foot - that don't pop when you throw them. The good ones even feature a nice little stage tuner along side

I believe he's refering to the type that you can tap really fast, like on Buckethead guitar, you'd have to be a really amazing tap dancer to pull that of with a tuner mute.

Also handy if you have a buzzy bass, when the singer is rappin' with the audience, you can hold it down and go talk to the drummer, and ready for the next count in. Not a slave to the footswitch.

my idea was more for saving battery life vs. just muting the bass. I don't want to go active/passive because I have no interest in passive mode (and don't want to do that much rewiring)
That is a really easy mod...go to Circuit City and get an SPDT switch (they will have several to choose from)

Just interupt your + line from you battery...one snip, two solder joints. Done.
