King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard - worth the ticket price?

I really don't want this to sound bad, but maybe you should check out the links he's sent you and decide for yourself?

I have no clue who these Lizard guys are, not a great reptile expert here, but reading your note, if you go and the music isn’t great at least you have something to share with your brother. That alone will be worth it….
I dig em. I've learned a few of their songs. I would go see them. That is just my opinion though. Thry are kinda quirky and weird mixed with stoner grooves. I would check em out and see what you think. This band has a wide variety of sound, so one song doesn't really tell you what they are all about.
They're pretty great live and have a consistent stream of live albums for you to check out. It's all pretty Gizzy but their material is so varied it's pretty tough to predict whether you'll dig a show - you might go expecting the thrashy Infest The Rat's Nest stuff and they play the acoustic stuff for two hours instead. Best to just approach it as an interesting live music experience.
I dig their angle of playing microtonal instruments. That in itself is a pretty interesting approach. New intervals in the ears that are not heard in the standardized US musical buffet outside of imported music. I'm not sure what their tuning system is, but it seems to work for them and my ears. You get the notes only available in bends (the neutral third, for example), but fretted, so the the contexts associated with the tones are different. I dig it. It's about time we picked up on some of the musical palette that has been available for a couple thousand years in other cultures.

Hmmm. Should you go see an incredibly inventive band that puts on a killer live show? IDK.

I've never really connected with their stuff by listening to the recordings (I know how stupid that sounds, thank you), but I do dig what they do conceptually and theoretically - they do an album of microtonal rock, and follow that up with a metal album, it's cool. I would want to see them live, just to see what the live experience is, and give them the opportunity to blow my mind.
I got tickets to this tour. I fell in love with them in the past few years…and they don’t play too close too often and I am in NY, so I say see em because the opportunity doesn’t come around often.
I give 'em an upvote just for "Polygondwanaland". The follow-up, "Polygonwanacracker" not so much.
