Korg ToneWorks AX3B

Hello everyone, I've recently stumbled upon this Korg ToneWorks AX3B (not AX3000B), and I would like to know what everyone here think. The main effects I'm looking for is 1. AutoWah, 2. Distortion, 3. Envelope, 4. Delay/Reverb and maybe the fretless effect. Does anyone know if the AX3B offer those effects? And would you suggest it?
It looks very decent for the price... :)

I was just trying to be helpful in directing you to where the information can be found. You asked about what effects are included, and the Korg site lists them. The unit doesn't have an expression pedal on it, so it would be an "auto-wah" effect.

Do a search for "ax3b" on this forum, and you'll get a few threads where people have disussed this item in the past as well as how it compares with similar items.

Just a note about low-cost multi-fx units...
Although you can get a pretty wide range of effects at a low price, the quality of the effects are generally not spectacular - some may even be terrible. If you are new to effects, and just want an idea of what different things sound like, a cheap multi is a good place to start. If you want a unit that will provide good-quality sounds for recording or performing, you might be disappointed. It all depends on your needs...and your budget.

I found some great details on it for ya...

"The AX5B has an expression pedal that lets you control an effect in real time using your foot. You can use this to control volume, wah, or nearly any effect parameter such as the gain of an amp model or the speed of a tremolo or flanger, giving you great expressive potential for live performances. A three-color LED indicates the effect (volume, wah, etc.) that is assigned to the expression pedal. There's also a Quick Assign function so you can assign an effect parameter at one touch and adjust the variable range yourself for maximum flexibility."

I've got a super-secret way of getting that kind of information, and becuase I like you, I thought I'd share it. ;)

NOTHING beats first-hand experience - especially with effects. If you have a Guitar Center (or other big music store) nearby, I highly recommend trying everything they have for yourself - even if it's way out of yur budget. You will likely find out that there's some things you like,and some that you thought you would that you actually don't.

If that's not an option, Musician's Friend has a decent return policy, and "It didn't suit my needs" is a viable reason for sending it back if you don't like it.

Thanks for the info. I read the paragraph you copied and pasted from the Korg website too, and that why I'm confused. Should I assume that the wah and stuff have to be done manually? Or does the expression pedal the speed/depth at which it wahs?
Also, without the expression pedal, isn't AX5B exactly the same as AX3B?

I'd guess that if you select "wah" with the AX5B, the wah is manually-controlled with the foot pedal just like any other manual wah (pedal movement controls wah sound). This pedal might not have an "auto-wah" ability (again a guess).

The AX5B will have Autowah, too. Only if you want to use it as a manual wah, you'll have the added option. Or you can use it as a volume pedal. Or you can use it to change parameters of effects (like the rate for tremolo or something like that I'd imagine)

BSW is pretty good too. Go ahead and try them both out if you can. See which is more your style.

The Korg AX5B is much better my friend. I jsut got mine last week for round 80 bones from Musicians Friend........THe Expression pedal makes the difference!! and the fact that you can have up to 5-6 different effects going at once is great...........Now I do no doubt there are far better processors than this but for the price and the beginner its golden in my book!

The AX5B is a much better bet than the AX3B.

The 5 is based on the 3000, and by that i mean its quality of FX build. The FX are the same, theres just less of them. All thats missing ( AFAIR ) is a couple fo delays, and a reverb or 2.

Its also physically smaller which is obvious i suppose, but the blurb on the AX3 doesnt say its FX are based on the 3000 whereas the 5 is. And i know a few people who have the 3000 and the word is that the the quality of FX is pretty awesome.
