korg TP-2 tube preamp?

anyone ever record their bass through one of these? they are on sale at sweetwater for 0.

im currently running my bass through the tube side of my eden metro, then sending the DI signal from the head out to the mixer, which then goes into my computer for recording. i use a bass pod xt sometimes too, but i've started just using the amp's DI more often. so i was just wondering if there would be any major benefit in adding the TP-2 somewhere in the recording signal chain.

I have not used this unit but my gut is a bit sceptical. Cheap pre amps usually sound that way, especially cheap tube technology. For about the same money you could pick up a Radial Engineering DI. Totally high end and great sounding.

the list price of the TP-2 is $699 and most places were selling it between $300 and $500. the $180 price is because it has been discontinued and they've got it on blowout. of course that doesnt mean its great, but it was not originally a cheep preamp either.
