Alright so I finished the one you guys have been asking for

These are in the order of newest to oldest, so you probably see some projection in the style. Jaco was definitly the hardest, the picture in black and white, low res, it was tough. I really like how it came out though.

All the pics are low res at the moment, because mySpace doesn't give you too much bandwidth More like MyLimitedSpace... OH! SNAP! Yeah, I went there.

I made a wallpaper out of the Jaco one, its pretty basic, but way too large to post a pic of. If you are interested in getting it, just PM me.

Besides that, I hope you enjoy.

Wow, thank you for all the positive responses guys, I'm really glad to see people like them.

These images are completely created in Adobe Illustrator using the pen tool. If you like this style you should research the pen tool a bit, if you need specific help with I could write pages on it. Anyways, have you ever heard of a french curve? its basically very flowy curves that come to a point. Thats the type of shapes I create. So I'll trace a section of color with a flowy pointy shape. Then repeat the process about a couple hundred times.

Creation:
As for the order:
1) Single and create out the extreme lows and highs (white and black)
2) Create the midtones (medium sized areas) around the highs and lows, then send the vector to the back (arrange>send to back) so that it is "behind" the lows and highs
3) Create the base colors and send to back

Touch Up:
1) Go in with the "white arrow" tool and move specific points around so the lines curve into each other

Color Change:
Change color to use only web colors. (It will limit the pallette and bring it closer to web ready).

Just pick one of the vectors and double click on its fill color, move the color slider to a different section of the color map. Thats how I got like Trey's face to be blue.

It does sound like a lot, and it is a bit of a tedious process. I'd say one will take about 4 one hour sessions. They can drag on you if you do it for too long. I've also been using Illustrator for a long time. Its really my favorite program, if you learn to use the pen tool its a lot of fun. Then step into the pathfinder realm with the pen tool, and it gets dangerous.

The Jaco one was the hardest so far. The picture was in black and white, and it was a small image (it helps to zoom really really far in).

Remember too, if you mess up, delete the section and do it again; or just move the parts to the side. Vectors are great because everything is moveable, scalable, changeable and they can look pretty wicked.
