Kramer DMZ 6000B

I just purchased a circa 1979 Kramer DMZ 6000B 4 string. It's a great looking piece. Walnut body wings with a maple stripe through the middle. Looks alot like an alembic. Active dimarzios with 2 volume and 2 tone controls. Plus 2 coil taps. It Has an Aluminum neck with wood inserts. A guy I know has a Kramer simular to this, and his tone was unbelievable. Anybody else have a review or thought?

I had a DMZ5000 in the early 80s and it was a pretty awesome bass, I thought as a high school senior. Yours is the next model up, top-of-the-line of the DMZ series IIRC. Mine wasn't active. I'd like it back. Only downside was it was kind of prone to neck dive, but I think yours has a bigger body that might balance better.

Just saw one up on da bay. They are a beautiful bass imho (I have one myself ) - congrats on picking it up. Love the walnut and maple. Heavy - but quite a bass! Lets see some pics when it arrives!!!!!!

Can't wait until you get it. If you have any neckdive issues.. then buy a wider strap!

I also have a DMZ5000. To minimize the neck dive, I moved the strap pin on the butt end up a couple inches, and the horn strap button to the heel on the body, behind the neck joint. Helps allot. Nothing you can do about the weight, though. it is what it is -- a beast.
