Double Bass Kussewizki Concerto Slurring

I change it up a bit depending on the line and phrasing.

The last time I prepared this movement I did 6+6 for the first two bars, then for the next six bars I do the printed bowing (specifically the top slurs since in bars 3 and 7 of this passage there are multiple options in the International edition), in bar 9 I do 5+3 for the first two beats, and in bar 10 I do 4+4 for the first two beats.

Hope this helps you out a little!

Thank you, I’ll have to try those.

I played the Koussevitsky for my ARCM recital many many years ago. I still have the part somewhere, and I know that bit of the slow movement has at least two possibilities marked. I'll try to dig it out, but all I can say at the moment is that, provided you have a good musical reason for what you do, you can make pretty much anything convincing! I have heard it played very legato but without slurs. Not my choice, but it wasn't terrible....
