Tuck and Roll, 250 watts @ 4 Ohms, Seller Says It Works Great... I was curious if anyone could give me a hint at what it sounds like. Will it perform well on both bass and guitar (I have an affinity for Bud Ross products apparently IE Road Electronics, I love the stuff)

the amp itself will do great for guitar or bass.

But, its the speakers in question that deterimine its real usefulness.

Plug it into a bass cabinet... and its a bass amp!

Same deal with a guitar cabinet.

Awesome! I know CCR used Kustom (Being a southern born musician means you must know this) but I was not sure which models... Does anyone know of recordings featuring this amp???

Yea sammyfallen. Those are great amps from the early 70s or so. The RMS power is actually 1/2 of the number on the front. So it would be 125 watts RMS. Way loud for guitar and good for bass also. As KramerBassFan said, use it with good and proper cabs and you should be good in either direction. I have the same head that's 150 (75 watts RMS) in power. The reverb vibrato etc. are very cool. I have the matching 2-12 cab with the original Kustom speakers. I also have the earlier 200 bass head and matching cab with 2-15s. Even at 100 watts, it does a great job on the bass.

I met Bud Ross a few years ago at a guitar show in Nashville that featured a huge Kustom display. He is a real nice guy and I enjoyed our conversation very much.

I got the amp and I feel it is AMAZING!!! This amp can be a Classic Rock or a Doom amp if you want it to be.

I have no shortage of amps, but this one kicks.

For my own fun I managed to assemble a killer rig for under $250.

This amp cost me $100 and the cab (peavey 412TXF) I run it through cost me $100, Than I added $30 for gas to get both pieces.

Patience is a virtue I guess...

No, the parts themselves are not getting scarce, its finding EQUIVALENT parts that is a PITA.

And Trust me here.... not internet speculating with no real experience. I've got an old KUSTOM Monitor III amp which i've been trying to track down transistors for.

I've got one of these plugged into a Hartke 115xl 8ohm by 180watt cab. Will it mess the amp or the cab up? It seems to push the speaker pretty hard. Thanks!

Still own my '71 t-n-r B-200, with original CTS 15" speakers.

Mine is good when going up against Fender Super or similar amps.

Against a stack???.. unless you run JBL loaded cabs..you may not be heard.

Oddly when plugging-in a guitar.. my head sounds amazingly loud..like when some guitarists prefer an old Bassman head...just no reverb or gain.

Again..achieves actual wattage when using (2) cabs..half power with one.
