L-2500 Tribute Issues

Three questions. Answers and opinions welcome.

1) Would Hipshot HB1s fit/work fine on an L-2500
Tribute? Would it be worth the upgrade?

2) Has anyone had experience with the humongous
Thomastik .136 B-string being too big for the nut on
an L-2500 Tribute? Given that these strings will be a
permanent installation, is it a good idea to open the
nut groove to accomodate this beast?

3) What about scoring out the hole in the bridge so
that the huge B-string can be accomodated as a
string-though? Too extreme? (Again, these strings
are fo'evah.)

I believe the Tributes use USA hardware and pickups, so I wouldn't think it worth the "upgrade" - if it really would be.

Filing a nut slot is no big deal - relatively easy and a new nut's not that expensive if you screwed it up. Might want to have your tech take care of it for you though.

I definitely wouldn't go to the extreme of scoring out a hole in the bridge. You might think about a switch to lighter guage strings...
