I know, these are designed for Höfners, which have got very high-output pickups. They seem to be very light gauge, with a thinner core than other strings.
I'm using them on my EB-3, as they're the only short scale flats in stock ATM in China. The EB-3 is supposedly very hot output, too, but I can't get mine to sound any louder than my Rickenbacker (with vintage-style, low output Toaster pickups). I wonder if the strings are low output themselves, like the Roto 77's?
