La Bella LTF-5A strings

So I bought a set of these for my 4 string for BEAD tuning, what little I could find online about these made it sound like the B string had a very even response compared to the rest of the set, but the fact the string is only .118 made me skeptical. Despite how light the B is, even compared to the rest of the set, these sound and feel awesome. The B string response is very close to the E, A, and D, and the tension is close, too. My bass is a 34" scale and I hate floppy B strings, which I was also concerned about with this set. Definitely recommend to anyone looking for an old-school sounding set of 5 string flats.

Great opinion share . From my opinion, lighter gauge B string has better tone clarity. i prefer EB 2816 and 2810 myself. Will try LTF5A if i own a 5 string bass again.

For as old-school as the tone of these strings are, they're definitely not lacking in clarity. Thumpy, but not muddy at all. I'm thinking about setting up my P bass the same way

I think part of the magic is the round core. I’ve found round-core low Bs to have very clear pitch focus/minimal overtones as you play up the neck for both roundwounds and flats on different basses - TI Jazz Flats and Rounds, DR Legends. I have a 5-string LTF set but have only used the top 4 strings, same with GHS Balanced Nickels.

I have a second set coming in this week. My first set was on a bass I sold...never gave them a fair shake. I do recall they sounded great with a balanced string-to-string response and no flop. I'm having some hand problems hence the purchase. Meanwhile...

I'm using a stock set of Cobalt Flat 5's (45-65-80-100-130) and having similar issues with the higher tension G & D. Instead of ditching the set, I purchased 40 & 60 singles per the suggestion of @michael_t . If navigable, I'd like to see this configuration offered as custom set (FretNation).

EB Cobalt and group flat arey favourite modern sounding bass string. Been use 5 string set on my previous RAY5 and 2814 on Yamaha trbx504. Currently have 2814 on my Bacchus J. The set on TRBX has stiffer feel than both set on RAY5 and Bacchus J, especially both D and G string. Otherwise, nice string to string balance stiffness on both ray and Bacchus J.

I do believe cause by force on headstock design.

Agree. Smooth thump without GHS flat dry and lifeless tone.

I'm finding these strings work pretty well with distortion, which I didn't expect. I like to use a Rat sometimes but it can sound harsh with brighter strings, with these flats it sounds pretty phenomenal.

The second section recording sound great and it is the useful tone for lot style.

Sounds very good! Is the Rat in both the third and the fourth section, or is the third one just the BDI with the 'Drive' cranked? (If not the latter, how do you like full distortion from the preamp with the LTF-5A?)

It's the rat in the third and fourth clip, I'm just A/Bing clean and dirty signal with the DI (first time without, second with). The drive on the behringer is pretty great cranked, though.
