LaBella 0760M D string rattle

Finally decided to try out the Jamerson flats on my Lakland Skyline 44-64. The bass had been wearing 40-95 Cobalt flats prior to this. Once I installed the strings, I immediately noticed a rattle on the D string. Open, fretted notes, everywhere...the string rattles. I ruled out this being vibration from the intonation screws/springs, string retainer, tuners, nut...all saddles are seated properly. I'm at loss as to where the rattle/vibration is. I took the pickguard off to see if something in the control cavity was vibrating. The pickup cavity is fine. No other strings played up and down the fretboard cause this rattle.

Is this just a faulty string? I've never encountered this before.
