Double Bass Laborie End Pin in Minnesota?

Does anyone know any luthier(s) who has/have had experience with drilling basses for the Laborie end pin in Minnesota? Also, does using the Laborie end pin (or just the drilling) increase a fully-carved bass's potential for cracking?
