Double Bass Laborie Graphite Rod Diameter

Hello my fellow Bassists.
Can anyone tell me the Diameter of the graphite rod on a Laborie endpin? (not the 17:1 cone part, but the rod itself)...

is it 10mm or 1/2 inch? - This would be a Laborie endpin from the maker himself.

I had an unfortunate lawn mower accident with mine.....yes really.

This is really hard to get in Australia, especially as I want a Loooong one. (and a short one too).

Thanks in advance.
T.

I can't provide help but I'm curious about the circumstances during which your bass got involved with a lawnmower and how any of the parties thought it would be a good match.

Ahh - I walked across a park with my laborie endpin in my bag, at some point later I realised it was no longer in my bag.
I retraced my steps - across the park - knowing that I would have heard it if it had fallen on the road.
As I got to the park I heard a large ride-on lawn mower - the council had nearly finished mowing the park, and I knew....
sure enough, there was my mangled endpin, nicely shaved almost in half down its length.

It's not as hot as I expected. Good luck in your search.
ce était dans les tropiques - il faisait chaud:wacky: BON! et merci!

Still Bumping this Question:
Rod Diameter for a Laborie Endpin - the Laborie version - not an NHM or other make.

Thanks very much - surely someone is sitting at home with a set of callipers and a Laborie pin....on a Saturday night.....reading Talkbass.

From the man himself (Christian Laborie), and for anyone else interested:
He manufactures 2 types, thickness (appears to be) dependant on length:

"-one with a 12mm diameter rod (length maximum 40cm): €60
-one with a 14mm diameter rod (length maximum 52cm): €80"

Ah...Au$tralia....fair dinkum! :beaver:
I must admit, that I am rather taken with the NHW ones simply because they also have a carbide tip under the ball. My laborie has slipped on certain floors.
It's just the length of the NHW ones short for me (I am 6ft 2+) - I have contacted them about over length versions.

Its pretty easy to make a CF rod with a New Harmony ball on the end. Measure the inside diameter of the hole in your bass and shoot me an email for an estimate.
