Lakland DJ5 vs 55-60

Hi all,

So I'm pretty set on one of these two. There aren't any music shops where I live, so I can't try them out before buying. Hoping some folks here could help me out by shedding some light on a few quick questions. :)

1. I notice both have the same pickups. I take it they will pretty much sound the same? Although, when I searched this forum for research, I did read a post claiming the DJ5 sounded "deeper". Is that true?

2. About the DJ5's smaller size: I sometimes play small, intimate locations (coffee shops) where I may gig sitting down for a good portion of the duration. Any issues with the DJ5's smaller body being uncomfortable compared to the regular jazz sized 55-60? I'm around 5'8" if that matters.

That's pretty much it. ^^ I can probably decide from there, but if anyone who's played both has additional things they want to share - I will gladly read it. Thanks!

The pickups are in different spots so they DO sound different AND the neck profile is different.

I personally like the 55-60 body "feel" a bit more so I no longer own DJs...although I LOVE the way they look!

I play almost exclusively sitting down and neither bass is an issue for me...

I would say you can feel comfortable buying either as , if you don't like it, is should be a relative quick sale here on TB (Or the Lakland Owners Group web site) and you can buy the other.

BTW - a DJ with a J retro is really NICE!
