Holy crap...more than 7 hours since our last post...I have nothing new to say except this is ridiculous! Also, no messages about a SEGTG yet, except from the faithful....Jody, Randy, Doug, etc. I am going to give Brian a call on Monday and try to set something up at the LowEnd

I'll add something. I had my first outting with the new DJ last night. It was an outdoor music festival here. I used my TC Electronic RH450 and RS210/212 rig, and it sounded great on stage. The strings were Lakland steels that came on the bass. There has been something going on with the E string since the bass got hear a few days ago. A little "warbling" like the string is bad. Nothing too extreme though. I knew that last nights gig would kill whatever strings I had on it because of the heat and sweaty hands, so I played it as is. I put some DR Hi-beams on it today (my favorite for a jazz bass) and now it just sounds freakin' incredible. Even from top to bottom, with a lot of zing that sounds perfect with the tone dialed back about 30%. Very deep and rich tone. Just wonderful.

Awesome...I am really gassing for a DJ...Maybe replace my JO with one. I was hoping you would chime in about a SE GTG also.

Depends on where it is. My work schedule is hard to predict. I'm all for it though. I know you guys are already sold on Lakland, but I'd love the chance to show off my TC Electronic gear. It's the coolest thing I've ever owned or played through...which is saying a lot. It REALLY loves passive/vintage instruments like the DJ.

I would love to check out the TC stuff. I am really loving the walkabout scout combo I got, but the TC stuff looks cool too. I will let you know about the GTG. Hey, where are the pics of the new kids????

I hope to have some action shots from last nights gig thanks to a bandmate's wife.

I really like the Scout combo also. Very warm and rich sounding. I've almost bought one on several occasions. Everything Mesa does just oozes quality, but there's something extra special about the Walkabout. I'd say the TC rig with a bit of the Tubetone dialed in sounds very similar to the Walkabout. Warm and punchy, but more in a retro kind of way instead of the ultra snappy modern gear. I bet those basses you have just kill through that combo!

That walkabout sounds like it was made to go with a glaub. You dial the tone back and WOW, DEEP. I can't imagine what it would sound like with some flats on my BG. I am actually thinking about moving the JO5. My glaub gets played most of the time and my 55-02 is my go-to when I need a 5er. Trying to decide if I should move it and try to get a hollowbody....OR sell it, and use it as a down payment on something "else" :ninja:

Yep. I'm thinking a little about a Glaub just for the tone you are mentioning. I'm just afraid I won't play it much as I'm not really a P bass player. I just LOVE that tone on populer recordings where it's hard to imagine another bass, but I never picture it fitting into anything creative that I do for some reason. I always hear a jazz bass. LOL!

I'm trying to stop buying/selling/trading so much. I ALWAYS come back to a jazz bass, and these DJ's are just the best of anything I've tried. I'm jealous of the people who have owned basses for years, if not decades, and still love them. I think that's really cool, and it makes me feel like a dirty slut. :D I know what I like, so I can't figure out why I can't just stay happy once I have it. I really thought I was there with the 55-02/44-02 because they were so versatile. And I was very happy, but I was using the "jazz" setting on those basses 90% of the time, and it was really close. But it was also just different enough that I wasn't quite satisfied. So I literally woke up one day, and just said to myself that it was pointless to resist any longer. "I am a jazz bass player. Just give it up and be proud of of it."

Are you firm on the burst finishes? I've had 5 or 6 burst finished basses over the years, and it was the only finished that seemed "right" on a vintage instrument. I've only recently gotten over that. This DJ is the fist white bass I've owned. I always felt it was kind of "wimpy" when I played one, although I never thought that when others played them. For some reason, all the sudden it doesn't feel that way at all. It feels cool and classic. Strange I know.

WOWZERS!!!!!!!!! 15+ hours without a post? And it's not even a GTG day? Frickin' slackers.... And just because I got the email yesterday that my headstock is done and I'll have it by the end of the week, how about I post a sorta old pic just for funsies.

If I had the cake laying around I'd place an order for 30 myself, keep a couple and sell the rest...
