LAKLAND OWNERS GROUP #28

Well, I had an "off" night at the gig tonight I suppose: couldn't see my sidedots or hear myself for the first half of the set (rushed soundcheck and crappy lighting). And I hate to hang my head over to stare at the front of the fretboard.

But, the energy level was thru the roof! That's probably more important to the audience than nailing every note anyways. I had a very small area to flail around in, but used every inch haha, nearly fell over the drum kit once, and later I banged Traci's headstock into a house spkr cab :hiding: . I'll check for damage tomorrow. I'm ready for the chastising....

Hey guys! I have been a bit preoccupied with some family stuff lately. Needless to say, because of that stuff, I missed my opportunity on the HB. :( Anyway, to make it up to me...my wife bought this for me! She saw that I had been looking at it earlier and felt bad that missed the HB. So anyway, this should be here Tuesday.

Sorry to hear about the family stuff and the missing the the HB, but that is a beauty!! Nice wifey!

I asked my wife why she doesn't buy me stuff, and she said because I buy me stuff:D

LOL...that is our situation as well...we just kinda buy what we want (within reason). It makes birthday gifts and such a difficult thing to come by....but, I love the fact that when she knew she wanted to get me something...LAKLAND was the first and only thing that popped into her head.

This happened at a practice I wasn't even at...lol. We had a gig this coming Saturday that I couldn't make...which they knew, so they grabbed a sub. I didn't go to practice Tuesday since the sub was going. He is a friend of the band and knows our stuff.

I didn't think much of it until I woke up Wednesday morning and saw 15 emails on my blackberry from the guys....The band leader (who is a great guy) never showed up at practice (we practice at his place) and everyone, including his fiance' who shows up to all our practices, showed and were locked out. This is not like him, he is usually on top of everything. The band leader used to have a substance abuse problem. He has had a lot of stuff on his plate lately..band stuff, work stuff, getting married next weekend...anyway, I guess he had a relapse and went on a binge Tuesday night. Anyway, he folded the band and entered a rehab program. He doesn't want to plan on playing anytime soon....wants to focus on his recovery and fiance', which I think is the right choice.

The drummer, lead player, and I are going to keep in touch and may try to find a singer and put something new together...rigiht now we are gonna go slow...we all live far apart as I was driving 100 miles each way to practice. Anyway....no band...lol

I'm glad the guy is at least taking care of what he needs to do personally, rather than drag all of you through it.

Our little trio is on a similar 'hold', as one member deala with some family issues, not substance abuse (we're all too old for that...). Family first!

Maybe now is a great time to write new material?

we are all to old for it too...lol. This band kinda got together as a band to support this solo artist, so the stuff we have been doing has been "his" material. We are gonna stay in touch and see what happens. It's all good...he is taking care of himself and that is the priority. I still didn't have a real chance to get the new Mesa's pushed too much. I can't wait!
