Hot family!!!! I've had a LPB DJ5 and an ACDJ, and miss them both....

Our tour has a date in Chicago on Dec 15. I worked out some hang time with Dan, which will include picking up my 2 new basses that I ordered in January.

#1 - USA BG, black w/ black guard, maple neck w/ black blocks & binding, 1.625" nut and a Chi-sonic humbucker! Flats will go on this one.

#2 - USA BG, white w/ black guard, rosewood board w/ dots & binding (ala 1966 Jazz), 1.625" nut and a standard Lakland P pickup. Roundwounds on this one.

Very stoked!!!!:bassist:

HOLY COW!!!! Sounds like a NICE pair!

congrats!!! when are you going to Lakland? maybe Greg and I can meet you there!

ALREADY to 31????? and so much good fodder on #30 to quote on yet....not the least of which is the Markus Turd (is "fodder" a nicer word???) Bass.....

It may be growing on me a LITTLE....like the blocked idea and the black headstock with the black guard (OK - coming around slowly!)...not that I would own one but....

Evan - I would be honored if you got a blonde fretless with an ebony neck....that would look awsome!!! the black ebony looks really nice with the blonde color....

Aaron - keep the DJ5 - you can always only play 4 of the strings BUT (as HAWT - and I DO mean HAWT) as that natural DJ4 is you cannot play a low B or C on it to save your live......

Have to re-post this as it was not on #30 long enough:

If you are not on the LOG web site (Link Removed) right now you are missing

1) Rogers latest abalone pickguard (Yummy with a capital "Y")

2) Some extra nice basses for sale

3) Info on the next LOG GTG (Austin in March)

4) An exclusive announcement about our friend (and master Luthier) Carl Pedigo

5) other great stuff!!!

go check it out......if you are not a member you can browse for free and even become a free member....you can also become a supporting member which gives you all kinds of cool stuff.....check it out.....

NOW!

peace:

Doug

So I down own a lakland (yet, obviously), but I went to Lakland this last week (as well as getting Gino's East with Gregc) when I went to Chicago. Let me say that if you haven't been there, you have to go. Dan was the absolute nicest guy ever. I played a ton of basses while I was there, (US decade, skyline decade with a us fretless neck, 5504, 5507, US Glaub 4 and Skyline Hollow body). Dan would just run to the back and get me whatever I asked for and let me play through whatever amp was available (ampgeg svt-vr and acoustic 360/361). I was absolutely blown away with the service he gave me, and with the quality of the basses. If money was free, I would get a bunch of stuff, but since it's not, I'm going to hold out for a skyline decade 5, which will be out late next year (according to Dan). I figure all you guys know this, but those of you who haven't been there should go if possible. It's truly worth it.

Played my BG5 PJ after about 2 weeks without touching a bass.....a little rusty (my playing that is) but the bass sounds and feels incredible!

Sometimes a nice passive P is all you need!!!!

Sounds GREAT whether doing 1950s, 1980s or 2000s.....

Glad to see you had a good time! I wanted to meet up with you and Greg but other events would not allow it....

you just broke the news on the SKYLINE Decade 5!!! I did not know that yet.....nor did anyone else....thanks for the info!

what did you think of the CHIsonics? how did the fretless Decade sound?

Doug

Awesome, but remember who has dibs on it....IF...you ever decide to get rid of it.

REMEMBER - I do not get rid of basses as fast as Terry (or you lately!).....this one will be around for QUITE a while....

problem is that I have a nice diversified stable at this time....no real duplication and I love all of the basses I have....the trouble is I have to sell one/trade one to get another......what a conundrum.....:rollno::atoz:

Fretless decade was a mwah-machine. With a little grit it was slaying some Geezer lines through the svt-vr and 8x10. I'll post some pics tonight for those who haven't been there yet.

Chi-sonics are probably right up there with the greatest modern bass inventions (despite the fact that they sound pretty vintage). The tone is monstrous.

Considering you live way far out, I wasn't sweating it. Thanks for the thought.

Skyline decade 5 will be epic. I'm going to hole away $100 a month until then. He didn't give me a specific date, but said around December next year.

Overall, I was beyond impressed.

that sounds awesome, man. I'm glad you had a good trip. I enjoyed my time there at the last GTG.

I may be done with new basses. The only way I order a new bass is if I start fearing for my fretless. I'm rough on my basses and the fingerboard has a few dings... I would get the board epoxied, but I don't want to mess with the tone on this thing. I just have to be gentle with her, and I now will only use it at sessions/gigs... it just sounds SO awesome that it's hard to stay to that rule.
