LAKLAND OWNERS GROUP #45

I use D'addario....and that is what my passport looks like too...lol

I chose them because they were on sale in a bin at Guitar Center for $5.00....lol. I loved them and have never tried any others
The good thing is everyone needs water/oil/gas/liquid waste (remowed)/you name it. Those, and hydraulic appliances. You guys should have a faucet printed on the cover of your passports, and a 'green corridor'.

hmmm... I used to give a run to d'addarios and some guys are still using them... not flats tho... Is it that they are good for the price, or 'real good'? Like, you know, I find GHS or Warwick 'good for the price' and DR long necks are 'the thing*' /insert personal preference here/?

I think they are real good. I have no desire to try other flats now. I am happy.

so I'm baptizing another guy into Lakland faith. If everything turns out right, he may be getting an early 4-94.
He's willing to dump the HSC and get a good thick, soft, protected gig bag instead.
Could you please advise on them, since neither of us has had those in our hands (the coolest ever Shoreline bag I have does not count since we can't possibly get one).
Here's a pair to comment on, for a start:

All variants are welcome (including places to buy).
Thanks,

Denis

The new Lakland bags are very nice too. I have the Hanson versions.

OK, I'm going with Marty Bell I think. The turnaround time is just ridiculously awesome, and I also need a pickguard cut. Once I get final word from Roger and Marty, I'm shipping it!

Awesome! When I had the BG5 proto done, I sent it to Roger to have the guard cut, and he sent it to Marty- much easier since they are both in Cali.... It was a pretty painless process and I am obviously ecstatic with the results.

I'm going to outfit my Decade with some nickle rounds tonight and see how it goes. I didn't like the Lakland strings that the bass came with so I put some Fender flats on it. I now want to see what nickle rounds sound like...I'll report back later tonight.

Man, this thread is buzzing along... almost like the old days... you know, like #23 or something. :)

I think the new design has grown on me as well. The upper horn does look a bit stubby, but definitely less "limp" than the previous. The thing I'm wondering about is how well it balances (or if there's a difference at all) seeing as it's a bit shorter (looks to be nearly 3/4's of an inch less than) than the previous.

IMO, they should've just used the upper horn contour of the 55's, which is a bit smoother contoured/rounder looking than the previous DJ, but similar size... I think that'd look pretty slick.

It's not white & it has chi's but...

Thanks for being such a good prophet Denis!

I would contact Lakland directly....they are ordering some VERY sweet gig bags and should have them in stock sometime in the near future (at least that is what John told us!)
