Anyone watch the Boston fire works show? The Pop's E bassist Mike Rivard is a old school Lakland endorser. He's got a small army of Laklands. He was rocking the 55-94 on TV backing up Susan Tedeschi and Eric Krasno.

Smashmouth? Really? Sure they had a hit (cover) song, but I guarantee they do not make any money anymore. They'd be lucky to open for the Barenaked Ladies or something.
I too think they're terrible, but their Allstar song made them money with record sales, not to mention royalties from Shrek
Yeah, that's really what I wanted. A bass that was a little sweet and dark, with a bit of brightness and some humbuckers....obviously much different from a Wal, but in a similar vein.
Yeah, I have owned a Skyline JO with US electronics, a sunburst 44-94 with barts, and now this 54-95 with single coils instead of LH humbuckers.
I've had a few people interested in the sound of the singles in this bass. I have various live samples taken from a show we did at the Double Door. With this bass stung E-C, I'm really looking forward to having a Low B that stomps again!
As for the club number, honestly I'm having a bit of a brain fart as to whether I ever requested one. I could probably use one!

I would be willing to bet that every member of that band is now working a different Job. Look at Alien Ant Farm, they were fairly popular a few years back and recently Tye Zamora was selling all his bass gear on eBay to "fund recording."
The 55-01 was delivered shortly before I left to practice this morning. It's more stunning in person than in the pics. Soundwise, it is exactly what I want in a five. It sits in the mix beautifully. I couldn't stand the sound of the 55-02 but I was in love with this bass from the first note. I remember many people complaining about the electronics in these basses but I was totally impressed. This 55-01 is dead quiet and shows great versatility. The funny thng is that it is lighter than my 44-02. It funny that people say that the 01 series is the low end of Lakland, there is nothing low end about the form, fit, or function of this bass. The quality is top notch. Don't be afraid of 55-01's. Better pics later when I'm not on my phone.
This is not necessarily an indication of success, but they just produced an album last year, or so says the interwebs
Alien Ant Farm just had the one cover.
I'm no fan of Smashmouth at all, but they had at least a couple originals (in addition to that cover) that were all over the radio for a few years--All Star (which no doubt got licensed elsewhere besides the movie) and Walking on the Sun. I bet the writer(s) of those songs made a heap of cash.
Don't underestimate the power of royalties from a successful movie. One of my favorite songwriters, Nick Lowe, says that his biggest payday by FAR came from a song of his that was covered by someone else for the soundtrack album for The Bodyguard (yes, that cheesy Whitney/Costner movie). He took his mother to see it and they never even heard the song during the movie!
I am a big fan of Nick Lowe too. Have you ever heard the Lowe Country album? That Robert Ellis cover of All Men are Liars is an absolute classic.
