The dip switches determine which frequency can be adjusted by the mid control on the front. It lets you pick which frequency you want to be able to boost or cut.
And, it's an important distinction in this case that the 'DIP' switch does not mean any frequency dip in the way you mention. The switch itself only selects the frequency that is affected/controlled, i.e.boost or cut, by the mid control knob. In this case, and most that you see it listed, a 'DIP' switch stands for a 'dual in-line package' switch, meaning that it consists of a series of switches in a single unit (as you see), in this case two. Simply a type of switch, not any indication of it's function.

I've been watching "11 Minutes" the past couple nights (docuseries about the mass shooting at the Route 91 Harvest country music festival in Las Vegas) and Jason Aldean was recounting how his bassist, Tully Kennedy, thought he'd broken his hand while playing a song because something wasn't right. It wasn't until later they realized what he was feeling was the concussion of a bullet hitting his Lakland and saving his life.
This is just a really well done documentary about the entire event; from the musician's trying to figure out what's going on, to the 20k+ attendees trying to flee to safety, and the ensuing pursuit of the shooter. Makes you think long and hard about getting up on that stage.

Thank you for sharing. I hadn't seen it before but it just underscores how insane this entire experience must have been. I don't know how you get over it and get back up on that stage. Honestly.

If anyone is interested, I'm going to put up some thunderblade TV Jones pickups and custom made pickup rings that I had made for my larger Hollowbody. They sound great... I just had a custom set of pickups for it that I decided to go back to. Here it is with the pickup rings... the bridge pickup is different in this photo, but you get the idea!

That's a sharp looking bass. I'd like to see a Skyline 55 Dual J in that scheme.
I don't think I've ever seen a Skyline dual J 55 ever. I guess the closest thing would be the Daryl Jones or Jobo. They really should offer one. I like dual J on a 55 body. It sets it apart from being just another jazz bass clone.
Yeah it's definitely a missing piece of the catalog.
The problem is that the JJ doesn't sell well as a US model. You can notice it here in the Classifieds section, whenever there is one for sale, it stays available for a long time.
I think the -01 kind of covers that territory if you put single coils on it. Maybe they could make a passive Skyline JJ, even cheaper than the -01... that could be interesting.
