I am a sucker for CAR basses. I don’t currently have one in my stable. I’ve seen this one listed in their newsletter for quite some time. I wonder if it would be available to try if I took the drive up to their shop. I’d have to reach out first I’m sure. I’d probably have to move another bass out to fund this one though… I just finished my basement and I’m having my head gaskets done on my Jeep. The extra cash is non-existent right now.
@Mohawk Et al....Here is the link from where I got the preamp schematic posted above...there is some info there as he was figuring out values on some components, especially the surface mount caps. I think he mentioned some values are questionable...

OK, riddle me this...why does the 55-02 have a P/U "Blend" pot and a P/U switch? Can't you select one or the other P/U by using either? Am I missing something obvious?

Ah...so it's not a P/U switch per se'. I'm assuming it changes the bridge P/U from series to parallel? The info I got with my bass (and what I could find) is a little unclear.
How do you get this newsletter? I don't see this on the website? I'd love to take a look......
In my experience, you can have a bass hobby or a Jeep hobby, but not both! LOL.
It’s a coil selector. It allows for front coil, rear coil, or both coils in parallel.
I’ve been bassin’ for 25 years and Jeepin’ for 15 years. I’ve got a decent balance down. The Jeep gets the money this year though. I’ve neglected it too long. Lol
I've had a motorcycle hobby since 1976 and a bass hobby since 1982... They both keep me broke...LOL. Oh and I also drove a Wrangler TJ around for about 15 years but because of road salt when I lived in NH it eventually dissolved beyond where it just wasn't worth doing anymore repairs on it.
I bought a 2010 Toyo Tacoma after ditching the TJ and about 6 years later the frame started rusting on that as well. Toyo did a "recall" on certain year trucks and so they replaced the complete frame at no cost to me. Soon after that I moved to Missouri where it's a fairly rust free state, at least in the southern parts of the state where I live. Hopefully the body and frame will last me the rest of my life. I've been told the 4.0 engines last forever in the Toyos when taken care of (as well as the 4.0 engines in the TJ's).
I sent an email to Lakland a few days ago inquiring about some technical stuff on my 55-02 and now I'm on their mailing list. I'm assuming if you sent them an email through their "contact" link on the bottom of their webpage, they'll set you right up.
I keep mine in "mint" condition.....along with my Gecko Leather Shirt!

I originally purchased this bass and donated it to my church for others to play. No one plays it so I am keeping it at home for safe keeping (others know they can play it if they want) and plan on giving it more love than it has received in the past few years.
That being said, it is taking a trip to Pat Wilkins for a new look.
Going to take it to Carl tomorrow to take apart and then I will send it to Pat.
Not sure how long it will take.....

Yeah, I did a semi-permanent loan of a G&L Tribute JB to my church and they never really took care of it...I took it back. One would think at a church, of all places, it would've been treated better...that or my expectations were too high. I guess being good stewards doesn't sink in very deep these days.
I know why you don’t wear T-shirts any more. Because you are an adult with a real job. That’s why.
