It was a "factory second" because the maple cap is a bit too thin, so the grain of the swamp ash shows through. I'm good with that.

Got my blue DJ5 back from the tech yesterday. Had him install the Audere JZ3 pro 3 band preamp and Lindy Frailins.... Love the transparency of Audere. It's sounds like a real hot passive bass with boosted lows and real smooth mids. Can't recommend those preamps enough. Especially for the price. +1 on the Auder pre. The custom pre in my 44-01 is awesome. Like you said, very transparent. Your DJ LOOKS AWESOME. Nice job.

The Auder pre really transformed my 44-01. Fist tried Nordstrand Big Singles, then put in Nordstrand Jazz Bar pups. Liked the Jazz Bars the most.

I use aurora strings. I friend of mine is endorsed by them and recommended. Can't say enough good things about them.

I’m in the middle of learning the musical Godspell and these two are coming in quite handy. They play so easy and sound fantastic.

Yep it was yours at some point, I bought it from Tommy who I think bought it from u. It's a great bass. The preamp really woke it up

Redundant question time. Are the Lakland branded strings still available? If so, best place to buy? I had read that the GHS Boomers were the same string, i.e. GHS makes teh Lakland strings, etc. Can anyone confirm or deny?

My first DJ was ordered with the retro in it.. Loved it!

Transparent but added so much!

I transferred it to my DJ5 when I sold the DJ4
