Thank you very much, he was a great bass player and a great father!

Lemme tell you, he didn't like wearing button down shirts because the buttons might scratch the finish. He took amazing care of his instruments, the 55-94 got a whole new level of attention.

Im with you. Ive had a hard time finding anything lower than D Musical. Ive changed my technique to help. If it doesnt help Im considering restringing EADGC.

Well, your leather straps are supporting many a Lakland around the country... and Carlo basses too! I need to get with you, after I get an engagement ring paid off, and have another 1 or 2 custom straps made.

I usually have 2 basses at my gigs. One is tuned a half step down D#G#C#F# for songs that are either recorded that way (like Stevie Wonder's Superstition), and one stays in standard EADG for most of the night. There are maybe 3 songs that I'll tune down to DADG for, and I have to agree... that low D is NICE!!! For me, DADG is the way to go when I want that low D fix.

In my 44-01 I have tried the Big Singles, which are awesome single coils, VERY AGGRESSIVE. I don’t have much problem with hum because of extra copper foil shielding I did. Also tried Jazz Bars which are Jazz Bass pups in soap bar cases. Using those currently and really like them. Give me more of a Jazz bass sound than the Big Singles. Nordstrand has exceptional customer service and will answer questions you have very quickly. You may want to consider there Jazz Blade pups. I my pu a set in my Sire V7. Hope this helps.

Had a GOLDEN opportunity to meet JJ, AKA, Jedi Bass at his gig. Got to play his Carlo custom double P bass, his Sceff AND GOLDEN era 4-94, which was basically mint. Where do I start! Each was AWESOME in their own right. The Carlo had a depth and tone all its own. Passive simplisity, light weight and played like butter. The case queen 4-94, had those to me, warm original Bartolini pups. Phenomenal neck that was so smooth and fast. Made me want another 4-94 like the one I lost. Perhaps the biggest surprise was the Sceff. I WANT ONE. Love that sound. All three played so well, felt so natural to me. Got to hear JJ play briefly for their sound check song. JJ sounded good on the Carlo.
I am very fortunate to have been able to play three awesome basses at once through a fine rig AND BEEN ABLE TO MEET SUCH A FINE BASS LAKLAND BRO! Thanks again JJ.

JJ, I believe has the most. I made quite a few for Markus, and Doug has two.

It was great meeting you! And, you are way too kind! My hands weren’t warmed up and my timing was sluggish on that soundcheck song. Later on, I had that Carlo snarling! I ended up staying with it all night, and didn’t even play the other two. I love the way it responds when I hit the strings a little hard. It really growls!

I know what you are saying about not being warmed up. I have certain things I do before playing to get my hands warmed up. I could tell from the brief amount I heard you have tone in your hands. We have all heard how two different people on the same instrument can sound different. Sounded good to me.
